Team testimonial
The farm has long operated on a self-renewal basis, with the purchase of GPs to ensure sanitary safety.
Self-renewal allows me to prepare my CG36 gilts for breeding. However, you have to be careful about setting up an appropriate quarantine. My aim is to have homogeneous piglets at birth and weaning, maximizing the number weaned by the sow, given the 5-band system. This objective has been achieved, with more than 14 quality piglets weaned under the sows, and I’m seeing a great improvement in the sows’ weaning capacity, as I’m reaching 15 weaned piglets in some bands.

Expert opinion

Philippe Jegado, Evel’Up Genetic Technician
“Stéphane pays close attention to the key points of gilt preparation, sow feeding and lactation start-up. This enables him to achieve excellent performance while still having time for his other activities, both on the GAEC and extra-professionally.”
