“I’ve had Venus sows for 3 years and I’m very satisfied. They are very calm in the maternity ward. They’re also very maternal, with numerous high-quality teats (16-17-18 functional teats) and high milk production throughout their career.
It’s also impressive to see the perfect quality of the udders of sows in rows 7 and 8, which you’d think were in row 2. They are self-sufficient during farrowing. They have a very good intake in maternity, which favours milk production.
In 2024, with 14.4 piglets weaned per litter, I gained 1 piglet compared with 2023, and my performance in weaned piglets under the dam remains at an excellent level throughout my career.
Venus sows are also very human-friendly, easy to drive and move around, and come into heat very well. Their legs are solid. With 6 litters per sow culled, I force myself to cull them. The Venus sow therefore allows me to work with complete peace of mind, and with an overall CI of 2.6, it enables me to achieve very good technical and economic results.
